The Values
The ALC believes:
- that the ALC operates in the community not-for-profit sector in partnership with the private and public sector.
- in the natural goodness of all human beings.
- that a human person is best capable of the highest performance when nurtured and allowed to grow according to the natural God-given unique individual talents.
- that any action creating dependency is a crime against the person, and society.
- work with dignity heals the mind and the body.
- a sense of order and values are the life line of any normal human being.
- a sense of belonging to a loving family, and community is a necessary grounding for personal growth.
- in innovation; being comfortable with novel ideas, approaches, and new ideas is central to effectiveness and to providing the best service.
- that the professionals working at the ALC are facilitators who subscribe to the characteristics of the community sector protocol of the ALC.
- in “Popular Education” as expressed by Paulo Friere the famous Brazilian Educator. This philosophy of education is the choice of the ALC.
- in a multicultural training environment: all cultural traditions, males and females, benefit by learning and working together. The work environment is multicultural across the country.
- that it is the leading edge of the community sector in that: 1) the ALC cultivates and nurtures partnerships between private, public and the community sectors, and 2) the ALC takes a professional business approach to its planning, structure, delivery, and evaluation.
