And So The ALC

  • Hires these young people and they become ‘Employee/Apprentices’.
  • Is consistently there for them: we do not give up if they do not.
  • Is patient – When they fall we say: ‘get up and move on’, if they do not get up we are honest and with respect, let them go.
  • Is giving back accountability to the employee/apprentices: they receive a wage – they are responsible for all their bills. - CHOOSE GOOD PREMISES AND EXPECT GOOD OUTCOMES.
  • Provides a learning and the practice of life’s responsibilities environment that they can be proud of, trust and get inspiration from.
  • Positive – even when it is hard to do so, when they let you down. We wait for their healing time.
  • Lets them take ‘ownership’ of the place.
  • Provides an environment that is Safe, Committed and of High Quality: This is the first time, in many cases, when these young people are taken seriously.
  • Discourages dependency, is challenging, understanding, and goal oriented.
  • Provides robust work/learning - no fluff - they understand this well, even when they might not be able to keep their part of the bargain.
  • Allows them to fly to freedom with their very own wings.
