The ALC is a not-for-profit community based employer. It delivers an upgrading program for at-risk young adults who have not completed Grade 12, are between the ages of 19-30 and have not made the transition to independency and self-sufficiency through either work or continuing education.

This 43 week work program includes the following 9 components:

  • Academic Upgrading - to a GED and Grade 12 departmental (time and ability permitting)
  • Computer Skills - Keyboarding, Windows, Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint
  • Communication Skills - Business Writing, English Grammar, Toastmasters, Electronic Media
  • Business Skills - Business Calculations, Manual Bookkeeping, Business Entrepreneur Apprenticeship, Simply Accounting
  • Personal Development - Thought Patterns, Market Place Living Skills
  • Community Development
  • Career Orientation
  • Driver Training
  • 3rd Party Employment
